Sudan is renowned for its significant role in the global peanut production, making up an impressive 14% of the total output. Peanut meal, alternatively referred to as peanut cake, is a valuable by-product obtained from the extraction of oil from peanut seeds. This protein-rich component is widely utilized in the feeding of diverse livestock categories. When it comes to oil meal ingredients, peanut meal ranks sixth on a global scale, trailing behind soybean meal, rapeseed meal, sunflower meal, cottonseed meal, and palm kernel meal.

SOURCE OF PEANUTS

In 2019, world production of peanuts (reported as groundnuts in shells) was 49 million tonnes, a 7% increase over 2018 production. China had 36% of global production, followed by India (14%) (table). Other significant producers were Nigeria, Sudan, and the United States.

Sudan, recognized as one of the top five producers globally, plays a crucial role in meeting the agricultural demands of various regions. It holds the distinction of being the primary crop producer in both Africa and the Middle East.

Sudan’s production stood at an impressive 1.9 Million MT. In 2019, the global production of peanuts, referred to as groundnuts in shells, reached a significant milestone of 49 million tonnes, marking a notable 7% increase compared to the previous year.

China took the lead with a 36% share of the global production, closely followed by India with 14% (table). Nigeria, Sudan, and the United States also made noteworthy contributions to the overall production.
